I've been wanting to post a link to my niece Sarah's blog, Sarah on Island Time. She is teaching ninth grade English in the Marshall Islands this year. At the end of the school year, she'll return to the States and travel to New Orleans to begin her Teach for Americajob.
Sarah is having the experience of a lifetime, but it's not without serious hardships: no electricity in school most days, no water or electricity at home for showers most days, kids who attend school only intermittently and honestly don't see the value of school in their lives. She started the school year with no books, no curriculum, no classroom of her own. And I think I have it hard some times!
